Foundation Board Members

Joan Marler is the Executive Director of the Institute of
Archaeomythology, an international organization of scholars investigating
the arts, beliefs, and rituals of prehistoric societies. She has organized
numerous international conferences and symposia on archaeomythological
themes and is the editor of The Journal of Archaeomythology, among other
publications. Joan taught folk and ethnic dance through Santa Rosa Junior
College for 28 years. From 2006-2016 she owned and operated French Garden
Restaurant in Sebastopol with her husband, Dan Smith.

Dr. Ed Bauman, President

Edward Bauman, M.Ed., Ph.D. is a ground-breaking and passionate leader in the field of whole food nutrition, holistic health, and community health promotion. He is the founder and president of Bauman College: Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts, with professional classroom, distance learning, and community wellness programs in Penngrove, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, CA, and Boulder, CO. Ed is the editor and author of many books. Ed has been a Foundation board member since 2011.

 

Susan Moulton, Vice President

Susan Moulton, (M.A., PhD: Stanford University), Professor Emerita, Sonoma State University has lived on her small farm in Sebastopol in Sonoma County with a variety of rescued animals for almost 50 years. She was Chair of the Art Department and later of the SSU faculty where she engaged in over three decades of Strategic Planning for the campus in addition to teaching more than 100 different courses. She is the author of many articles on a variety of topics and is currently researching, writing and lecturing around the world on Animal Behavior, Cognitive Ethology, and the Decoding of 40,000 year old cave paintings in Southern France. She has supported the Palm Drive/SWMC Hospital since its inception, noting that many years ago having it nearby saved her life.

Gail Raborn, Secretary

Gail Raborn, Secretary

Gail Raborn has worked in the holistic health field as a Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist, Interactive Imagery Guide, Workshop Leader and Lecturer for more than forty years. She’s devoted her life to helping her clients and students create harmony and health within themselves on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels of being.

Her specialties are to guide pre-surgical patients to use the power of their minds to prepare for surgery without complications or stress; and to empower cancer patients by teaching them imagery for healing and to reduce side effects of chemo. Gail’s private practice is in Santa Rosa, where she offers sessions in her office, by telephone, and through home visits.

Bob Gillen

Bob Gillen, M.S.W., M.P.A, has been a two-term former member and two-year President of the Palm Drive Health Care District Board. Bob was Chief Probation Officer for Sonoma County for 23 years and leader of Sonoma County justice system programs. Bob has been a Foundation member since 2009.

Mark Olson

Mark Olson graduated from San Jose State University with a double major in microbiology and biochemistry and from Washington State University with a degree in pharmacy. He owns Forestville Pharmacy where he strives to deliver personal pharmaceutical care with a special interest in HIV, infectious diseases, and diabetes. Mark has been a Foundation board member since 2011.

Roger J. Pitzen, M.D.

Dr. Roger Pitzen specializes in both family and emergency medicine. He has practiced in Sebastopol for 31 years and has served as Palm Drive’s Chief of Staff. Currently, he is chair of Palm Drive’s Emergency Department Committee and is a Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Pitzen has been a Foundation board member since 2009.

Gail G. Thomas

Gail Thomas has held major management and consulting positions in the public and private sector including Duke University Medical School and consultant to NIH. She has been active in community service serving as Director for Restorative Resources, Rotary, Red Cross, YWCA, and church organizations. Gail has been a Foundation member since 2007.

 

Marty Webb

Marty Webb holds an MA in School Leadership and served the Analy Union and the West Sonoma County Union High School District for 36 years, the last eight years as Principal of Analy High School. Marty is now retired and the Vice President of the Redwood Empire Council of the Boy Scouts of America where he serves on its Executive Board. He is also a director of the Sonoma County Legal Aid Society. Marty has been a Foundation board member since 2005.
